Work from the model out
I frame the business rules, user tradeoffs, and product states before polishing screens.

This should only take a moment.
Eleven years of owning product surfaces at small companies, which in practice meant being the person setting the design direction, not just responding to briefs. I was usually the one making the product judgment calls, not waiting for someone else to frame them.
I build in code now, so I can ship the interface I design. Building in code shortened the distance between intent and reality.
I build influence through product judgment. I weigh business constraints against what users need and make the call to simplify or push back. I work with product and engineering from the start, and we use research and data to decide what ships.
I travel, chase local food, and pay attention to places that stay with me. That instinct feeds the work: notice what feels alive, then bring the useful parts back to product design.
How I work
I frame the business rules, user tradeoffs, and product states before polishing screens.
I work with product and engineering from early decisions through prototypes, handoff, and code.
At Pocket FM, I mentor designers through regular reviews, working sessions, and day-to-day problem solving.
